TIFF is a professional format common in scanning, printing, and archiving; it preserves every pixel exactly, which makes it the standard choice for masters and print workflows. Converting to JPEG makes the image openable in virtually every browser, app, and device. JPEG uses light compression, so the result won't be a pixel-for-pixel copy of the TIFF, and because JPEG can't store transparency, any transparent areas are filled with a solid colour (white by default).

No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser. Your files never leave your device.
Will converting to JPEG reduce quality?
JPEG uses light compression that makes a small change to pixel values. At the default quality setting the difference is usually invisible, but it is not pixel-for-pixel identical to the original. You can raise the quality slider to reduce the change, at the cost of a larger file.
Will I lose the transparent background?
Yes. JPEG has no support for transparency. Any transparent areas in your TIFF image will be filled with a solid colour (white by default) during conversion.

Also consider: If file size matters, consider AVIF (works in all current browsers) or JPEG XL (lacks widespread support) — both achieve noticeably smaller files at the same quality.
