PNG keeps an exact copy of every pixel and supports transparent backgrounds, which makes it ideal for screenshots, logos, and graphics with sharp edges. JPEG uses light compression, so the result won't be a pixel-for-pixel copy of the PNG, and because JPEG can't store transparency, any transparent areas are filled with a solid colour (white by default).

Will converting to JPEG reduce quality?
JPEG uses light compression that makes a small change to pixel values. At the default quality setting the difference is usually invisible, but it is not pixel-for-pixel identical to the original. You can raise the quality slider to reduce the change, at the cost of a larger file.
Will I lose the transparent background?
Yes. JPEG has no support for transparency. Any transparent areas in your PNG image will be filled with a solid colour (white by default) during conversion.
Also consider: If file size matters, consider AVIF (works in all current browsers) or JPEG XL (lacks widespread support) — both achieve noticeably smaller files at the same quality.
