About this conversion
BMP is an old Windows format that stores pixels with no compression — supported everywhere but produces very large files. JPEG uses light compression, so the result won't be a pixel-for-pixel copy of the BMP.

Will converting to JPEG reduce quality?
JPEG uses light compression that makes a small change to pixel values. At the default quality setting the difference is usually invisible, but it is not pixel-for-pixel identical to the original. You can raise the quality slider to reduce the change, at the cost of a larger file.
Also consider: If file size matters, consider AVIF (works in all current browsers) or JPEG XL (lacks widespread support) — both achieve noticeably smaller files at the same quality.
